About Lakota (Kota)

Adoption Fee: $200
Siberian Husky
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Lakota is an incredible young boy. He's very loving and full of energy and personality. He has blue eyes, a white heart patch on the back of his neck, and a black patch on his white belly. Beautiful markings. He's not shy, and happy to howl to you if/when he needs or wants something. He LOVES to run and, true to his Husky nature, LOVES to escape. He is very independently spirited, and as of now he will run (and return the next day) as opposed to coming when called if he is off leash. I have no doubt that he would respond well to appropriate training, especially once he's been neutered. He is crate-trained and potty-trained, though he does have urge to 'mark' territory, as he hasn't yet been neutered. This should subside with his neutering, and even now is very rare. He would be a GREAT running partner! He's been raised in only loving conditions, so no past trauma for this boy. We are looking for someone who will give our sweet wild boy the time, attention and training that he needs for his breed. We are also looking for a home with another dog for him to play with and bond to. He's been raised as part of a pack since birth, and we know that he would miss the companionship. With us, he has an older brother (Corbin- staffordshire pitbull- who was a disciplinary force when he was young and who now protests when Kota attempts to exert dominance over him... Lakota is NOT afraid... lol) and an older sister (Alma-mastiff/Rottweiler mix- who is his playmate and current best friend - also helped raise him, in a very mothering way, since he was 6 weeks old). He is used to a very rough-and-tumble style play with his 'pack'. He is not aggressive in the slightest towards people or other dogs. I'm not sure how he would react to a cat, but he has killed birds while on the 'run', and he and Alma have gone after bunnies, despite our protest. Caution would be advised for smaller animals. We're very saddened to have to re-home him, as he is very dearly loved here. Unfortunately, we are business owners and our busy lives prevent us from giving him the time, attention, training, and exercise that he needs. We also live very close to a highway and river, and each time he escapes, I grow more and more terrified that he'll be hurt. If you are looking to add to your pack, he's an ideal candidate. Loyal, sweet, goofy and communicative. We will be re-homing him only with the right family for his needs, because he deserves the world! We will send be sending him with his crate and personal belongings (feeding bowls, favorite blankets, toys etc.) once we find the right family. His adoption fee will be donated to 3 of our favorite rescues (part to this site).
