Proudly presenting WOLFIE, Wolfie arrived in WA from CA where ADR.org. and has been doing well here on Orcas Island, WA at the residence of the founder of ADR.org. In CA and after being attacked by a dog in a temporary home ( with - as it looks like- too many dogs) he was 'forgotten ' and abandoned at the vet where costs had accumulated due to the needed emergency care for him. Through rescue communications and networking - ADR.org heard about him. WOLFIE would do well in a home without too much going on, a settled environment, ideally with a female, He knows cats (as he lives now with cats) and after initial anxiety about the cats - is behaving very well around them. He is an absolute adorable love bug. Watch his little video. WOLFIE walks well on a leash/harness but you have to have a solid grip on the leash at all times- especially if he sees rabbits, squirrels or deer. A strong command of 'NO' and a verbal correction is very well received by WOLFIE. He likes car rides, and does not get car-sick. Major character trait of WOLFIE is his high energy at the very beginning meeting another dog. He does not know the effect of his high strong energy and some dogs will not accept that- especially male dogs. he does live with 2 adult male dogs and 1 female dog - and as long as the new owner helps him to assess the situation of a Meet & Greet (in doggy terms) - WOLFIE will be just fine. Regarding being with children - I think he would be not good in handling random, uncontrolled approaches as children have a tendency to do- and will run away and shy away. He can hang out with you inside - as he loves 'his' human and the sheer presence of you gives WOLFIE the comfort he so longs for. But when he sees you grabbing his leash'|WOLFIE (oh boy) is ready to 'go'. But as every other dog - he needs stimulation and energy burn off options. He does bring back ball or toys when thrown- WOLFIE is a mix of a Australian shepherd and Chow (most likely), weights about 45lbs and is around 5-6. Up to date with vaccinations for 1 year, microchipped and neutered.
