About Buster

Pomeranian mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Buster is an 8 year old, 12 pound fluffy Pomeranian. He is blind, but he doesn't let that stop him from enjoying life. His blindness is something he developed as he got older. Buster had an appointment at Tufts on June 6th which found that he has a cataract in one eye and a degenerative retinal issue in the other. They do not foresee any further problems due to this but he will not recover his sight. He can walk up small sets of stairs just fine, but will need to be carried down them as he gets nervous. Luckily this isn't much of a problem as he loves to be picked up and carried. He will beg you for it! It's really adorable. When not being carried around or cuddles next to you Buster is great in his crate and quiets down quickly. Buster does well around other dogs, but mostly will just ignore them. If the other dogs pressure Buster then Buster will get nervous and might growl to let the other dog know he's scared. He generally will go to his safety person as well. He has not been around cats but I would not expect him to act much differently. Buster is mostly house trained but still does have some accidents if left out of his crate. When he's crated he does very well with his potty training. Buster would be a great companion dog for anyone. He is very loyal and loves his people once he's comfortable. Being blind he will depend on you more than a non-blind dog, but this is rewarded with tons of fluffy cuddles and kisses! it's definitely worth it! We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
