About Charley

Words can't describe my heartache in this post and I am only posting this because I am desperate. Our beautiful dog Charley is 18 months and he is a wonderful dog, but comes with issues. He has been our everything and we have done EVERYTHING in our power to avoid our current position. Despite three trainers, one specializing in aggression, our mostly sweet boy was not able to overcome his issues and we simply couldn't risk keeping him with our infant son entering our lives. We found the perfect home for him about a month ago... 4 acres of land, a creek in the back yard, and an active owner who loves labs. Charley quickly connected with the owner and was doing okay but recently has displayed similar aggressive behavior with others who have come to visit the house. As much as the new owner loves Charley, he too can't keep him. We are looking to re-home him again. Unfortunately, Charley requires an extremely specific environment. He needs an active owner who is knowledgeable in dogs and their behavior. He needs space to run and play. The owner would need to be the kind of person who doesn't really have visitors, especially children. Charley has snapped at several people and has made contact, one of which broke skin. His snapping can be unpredictable and we can't seem to find a trigger. Again, he is a great dog most of the time, but he seems to be wired slightly differently and we just can't manage it. If anyone knows someone who can manage an animal like this and has the right environment or if anyone knows of any rescues in the US that take dogs who have shown aggression please let me know.
