About Dave

Dave is a young pit bull mix who is looking for his forever home. He has longer hair than a pit, especially on his tail so he's probably mixed with some sort of retriever. Here's a description of him from his foster mom: 'He loves to play chase with me and the kids. My daughter who is 10 easily takes Dave for walks, he has never lunged or pulled very hard on the leash. When he knows its time for a walk he goes right to his bed to wait patiently until you get the leash on him. This is the only time we see him silly and playful like this is in the yard off leash. When out for walks his tail goes up, he takes the lead and he has a boost in confidence that we don't see just in the house as all other times he is very quiet and low energy. He is so very curious on the walks and loves sniffing everything. He is curious about other dogs or humans we see on our walk but won't approach them. He was very scared of a loud, tiny dog that surprised us on our walk behind a fence by barking loudly and trying to get under the fence. Dave jumped and then backed away but did not run or growl or even bark back. We went to the dog park during a slower part of the day and it was to overwhelming for him and he is very submissive which led to him being corned by the bigger more boisterous dogs. He was never aggressive, just curled in on himself and put his back to the fence. We left after that and he had a much better time on the walking trails that overlooked the dog park than being in it. He still is very shy around people in the house. He loves snuggles and pets from the kids and will just recently has started to come to me and put his head on my knee asking for some love. He totally ignores my husband, no matter the bribery he tries to use. He is so very, very sweet. He is also very quiet most of the time unless he is startled and then he will bark a few times but quickly stops.'
