MEET ALLIE RAE!!!!! Allie Rae has beaten all odds against her! She is such a loving, playful dog. Allie is great with other dogs and children of all ages. Cats, she's not too fond of. Her rescuer and foster Mom tell her story: 'Allie Rae was found at Lamar Dixon on September 24. We immediately brought her to the vet. She was severely emaciated but her abdomen was very distended. As soon as the vet laid eyes on her we knew it wasn't good. Our minds went to caval syndrome. This is when the heartworms are so dense they literally start breaking down blood vessels and cause a blockage in the heart. Unfortunately that was the case. Allie was infested with hookworms, heartworm positive, skin infection and ear infection. When we pulled blood, it was very very thin. Allie needed lifesaving surgery. Cypress Lake Animal Hospital was able to do the surgery to remove the blockage of heartworms in her heart and save her life on October 4th. Allie came home to recover on October 8th. She has since begun her heartworm treatment and is being spayed! She's a true survivor!!! If you are interested in adopting, please go to www.thepitstoprescue.com to fill out an application!
