About Emily-ADOPTION PENDING

Dachshund / Poodle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Our sweet and beautiful Emily couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Emily is an 18 - 24 month old Dachshund/Poodle mix that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. Both Dachshunds and Poodles are extremely popular breeds. This makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, super-intelligence and easygoing and loyal personalities. Farfel's tries to rescue Dachshunds and Poodles that are in need of our help with confidence they will have great personalities and be very loving family members. Emily has all these wonderful traits and was described by the Kansas shelter personnel as just about perfect! Emily has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound%BD'%BD|never to be cold or hungry again. But through it all%BD'%BD|Emily doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Emily is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slate%BD'%BD|open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Emily and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Emily be a companion that is well-behaved (she's mastering that right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between dog and family. Emily tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome). She's the greatest lap-dog and thinks being held and petted is the most awesome.. and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Emily gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite person for belly rubs and kind words. Emily loves to come along (and is very portable at about 11 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a walk on a Colorado path, a vacation or just socializing%BD'%BD|Emily would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance to fit in just about anywhere. We envision Emily in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation. She's great with other dogs and would be a great best friend for older kids! Emily wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone%BD'%BD|she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Emily would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's special...and loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog. Emily appears to be a non-shedding (or perhaps very light shedding) girl. Therefore she will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great choice for lifelong coat care and longevity) to keep her gorgeous coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Emily be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Daniel's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Emily will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 5/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Emily, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
