About Lightening

Lightning Lightning is an incredibly sweet girl, who was most likely used as a breeder dog. You can tell that she had just had a litter of pups not long ago, and truly didn't understand what being picked up and hugged was all about. Her 1st night she was very wobbly on her feet as if she didn't know what to do with them. (Cages don't allow you to walk about) She also trembled at the slightest touch of a human hand. She has come along way since that first night! She is more comfortable and now she walks up to you for a pat! She is also liking the fact that she can wander through out the house..no cage. When she has some energy she will run around the house chasing you like a little puppy! We think Lightning is about 10+. She has a genetic eye issue. (We were hoping that she could have cateract surgery, but the Vet said it isn't an option because it was hereditary). Lightning can see a few yards in front of her but her right eye is the one that is close to blind. She weighs 10lbs. Lightning is mostly housetrained but can have small accidents if she isn't taken out in time. She has a good appetite and enjoys her food. Typical of a Shih Tzu, and her age, she sleeps most of the day. She will get up, have a stretch, wander around inside and outside, eat and run after you for a while before catching some zzzz's to start the process again! She doesn't play with toys (yet) ...she is simply a sweet girl learning what it is liked to be loved and free. She is more alert as each day goes by and even gobbled down her first baked treat! With a forever home she will come out of her shell more and more and will show you what an amazing dog she can be. Even though she cannot see that well she zooms about the foster's home with great confidence and speed! It would be great if someone with lots of love and patience could adopt Lightning and give her a life of happiness. If you are a Senior, (65 or older) this girl qualifies for our Senior to Senior Discount program. So, whichever is the lesser, (what we have into them, or the adoption fee) you pay the lesser price for the adoption fee. (Please note since Lightning is an older dog with eyesight issues, we are not able to accept applications with families that have young children or young dogs. We also require that if you have a pool it is fully fenced since she cannot see that well and will fall in) Lightning's adoption fee is set at: $110.00 If you have been wanting a new family member and think Lightning is the one for you, please apply for her by going to: www.wowdogrescue.org and completing an application. PLEASE do not call to see if the dogs are available, just complete an application so you can be considered. We will go through applications and if yours is a perfect fit we will call you to meet up! When a family is chosen, we give the family 3 hours to return our call if they don't answer. After that, we go to the next person who qualifies for the dog.
