About Parker

Anatolian Shepherd / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young pup. Parker is the kind of puppy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder. She's so sweet (while being initially a bit shy) and very loving with every possibility open to her. This is the case unless a puppy like Parker is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space.. or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of an older woman who over several months fed and loved Parker and her two companions while they lived in a field. The day arrived when she could no longer afford to care for the threesome.. and her heart was clearly broken as she turned them into the local shelter. She begged that they be vetted, fed well and placed with a family that loves them like crazy. The shelter complied...Farfel's was contacted that very day and we welcomed Parker and her companions into Farfel's Rescue. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of an urban city. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their shelter counterparts. Many have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy. Those that have lived on the streets often survive by learning social skills. They are engaging with people because they're their only means of survival. They try to fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life that Parker was living with her companions..with daily visits by their savior with food and water. Parker is a gorgeous 6 month old, 12 lb sweet and puppy-silly girl who is anticipated to be approximately 25 - 28 lbs when full-grown. (We've requested additional photos of Parker to show her cuteness and gorgeous puppy face). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about anywhere and fit right in due to her great temperament. Parker is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. We all have a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving pup in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Parker becomes comfortable in her home, she will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please...the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. We would like to see Parker in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some lap or couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!)... as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. These classes take a very smart and cooperative puppy like Parker and teaches them the skills to accompany their family out into the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. Parker will be a wonderful and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Parker would enjoy another gentle dog or puppy to play with...she's so sweet and gentle as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Parker has a stunning and cottony-soft coat that's consistent with her breed mix. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a lifelong salmon oil supplement is important for longevity and coat care) to keep her hair very healthy and matt-free. Parker will be arriving on transport in Denver in early June. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Parker please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
