About Yogi

Adoption Fee: $350
Pomeranian
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

We are always stunned to find sweet, lovable seniors dumped by their owners into high kill animal control facilities. Yogi was just such a pitiful soul, when we became aware of his perilous plight. Ten years old, this beautiful Pomeranian became just one more sad rescue statistic, despite excellent behavior reviews from shelter staff. And, it seems these days, that the odds are not in Yogi's favor when it comes to adoption options, due to the overwhelming demand for puppies! Most folks prefer to muddle through the dreaded puppy mayhem years, rather than open their hearts to an older, serene, loving soul, who is truly in need. Adopting a senior dog takes an evolved human sensibility: someone who can value the quality of time over the quantity, as well as a heartfelt willingness to help a disenfranchised rescue dog. However, there are several advantages to senior dog adoption, in that the dog's energy level and behavior can be appropriate to a quiet, calm household with other senior dogs, who may have lost their beloved housemates. Senior dogs make great companions for senior humans! Yogi could join just about any type of home. He has the type of cuddly, outgoing personality that Pomeranian lovers adore, without the yappy edge that we sometimes see in this tiny, but mighty breed. Yogi has typical Pom good looks. His coat is in good shape, and is a rich caramel color with some beige markings. As a long haired breed, with double undercoat, Yogi needs periodic professional grooming, and daily brushing. He is a tiny boy, at an ideal weight of 10 pounds. Yogi has an extremely good nature, and could easily join a multi-dog or cat home. He enjoys the company of other dogs, and has blended in beautifully with his multibreed dog foster home. Other dogs seem to like Yogi, and he gives off an appealing neutral vibe that puts dogs at ease. He is outgoing and friendly to people as well, and would be a compatible fit with families with older kids, or a quiet adult household. Yogi is a medium to mellow energy dog who requires a couple of leisurely leash walks each day. Yogi has excellent house manners and is housetrained, and crate trained. Adopters should be prepared to troubleshoot the occasional accident as he transitions to a new potty routine, and perhaps new feeding schedule, in his new home. He behaves well in the car, and is not overly reactive to triggers like toll and gas attendants. Yogi is in good health for his age and has been neutered. He just had a full dental procedure and pre-op blood work with which was is in normal limits. This will serve as a baseline for monitoring Yogi's health going for work going forward. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and corona virus), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed and microchipped.
