About Kane

American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Kane : Male : approx 11 months Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Medical History: 60lbs, solid Black with white snip on chest and paws. No medical issues, up to date on all shots, and Is neutered and potty trained. Misc: must be inside dog, good with older children, dogs and cats. Kennel trained, knows commands 'sit' and 'down' very well. Needs a little work with leash manners but he is still a puppy and in process of training. Kane was a result of a backyard breeder.. Kane and his sister being young pups, there owners tried to potty train them, but were not successful- the owners grew tired of attempting to potty train, so the puppies were placed outside with hardly any human contact other than feeding. Due to Kane being left outside in the heat and rain and icy cold weather with no toys, etc- he became destructive. The owner did not like this so tied him to a post in the backyard with only a bowl for food and water. He became scared of new ppl- he became shy and timid due to not being socialized with out animals or other ppl outside of feeding time. He is not shy aggressive, he is shy scared. He was not socialized or cared for properly. When the owner grew tired of having them in the back, she tried taking him to a shelter, they stated because of his breed if he was not adopted in 7 days- they would euthanize him. When the owner came to work she was talking to one of her friends and I overheard the conversation, and told her I would take him, because of the misunderstanding of his breed, I could not allow him to be put to sleep over something he could not help. When she surrendered the poor baby, she handed over a collar and leash along with a bowl of food. The collar was way to big and I could tell he was not looked after physically or emotionally. She told me she had never had the time to bath him- she said she was too busy. And he had only had his first rounds of shots, but never been to an actual vet. I gave him a very thorough bath, cleaned his ears out, clipped his nails and a few other things to make him feel better. Due to not being brushed he had multiple patches of hair fall out. It took him awhile to understand that he could play and still be a puppy. I gave him lots of toys and raw hides to let him know it was ok to still be a puppy. And two months later, he is still a giant puppy, he has a mellow nature, but gets silly and outgoing from time to time, he deserves all the love and attention in the world- he loves to snuggle, and give kisses. He just can't get enough loving. He needs someone to be patient with him as he adjusts to a new home. Loud noises scare him, and he will end up in your lap! He really is a giant baby! He only really barks if he has to use the restroom, he will bark at the door. Also when he plays, a few little grunts will come out. He sounds like a cow when he makes his noises!
