About Cardigan

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. SPECIAL NEEDS - I'M BLIND A HOME VISIT IS REQUIRED BY HIS FOSTER SO SHE WOULD LIKE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREA TO APPLY TO ADOPT HIM. Hey there people it's Cardigan (Cardi for short)! I'm so glad I finally get to give y'all an update on myself. So far I've been a very busy boy. I went and got my eyes checked out by a couple doctors and they both said I was born with the Merle Gene and that I'm something they call a double merle (whatever that is). They said I was supposed to be made to have really pretty coloring and I ended up being blind instead. I do think I am still one handsome fluffly boy though and that my eyes give me lots of character. Also both Doctors said that my eyes are fine just the way they are and can be left alone since they don't bug me. I don't need eye drops or anything!! Being that I am completely blind my sniffer and hearing are REALLY on point! I can hear you opening a bag all the way across the room or sniff out yummy food. Just because I can't see doesn't mean I can't get around. I get around juuuussst fine at my foster parents house. I even jump on and off their bed and couch and chase my best friend Attis (another K-9 Angel) around the yard and house with no problem. I pick things up rather quickly since this lifestyle is all I know. I do have to say me and stairs aren't friends though so a home with a yard instead of an apt would be my choice since I can't go down the stairs very well. Also Momma thought I would look cute in some doggles and she was right! I think I'm one cool dude when I have them on and I've been told how cute I am when people see me out in public. Just call me a celebrity I guess. :) I LOVE other dogs especially playful ones since I am still a puppy myself I need a dog that can keep up with me and will also let me be their little shadow at the same time. In a perfect world I would love for me and my buddy Attis to get adopted together since we basically do everything together right now. If not with him another dog that likes to play is a must in my forever home. I'm doing really well on not pottying in the house and knowing the difference between outside than inside as long as you take me out pretty regularly and I'm fully crate trained too! What more could you ask for in your perfect dog! Come check me out this weekend at the Adoption Center! Cardigan is a Male Cardigan Welsh Corgi / Border Collie Mix that we estimate to be born around 12/25/2017 and weighs around 18 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
