About Max

Max is doing great and he is such a sweet boy. He is a perfect size too. He is not very large but weighs about 43 pounds. He is a bit on the chunky side so we are working at exercise and limiting his diet as likely about 35-37 pounds would be his optimal weight. He is a little timid at first, especially with new tall people, but he warms up very quickly. Once he realizes that you are okay, he is very affectionate and loves attention, petting, scratches! He is in foster in Olympia with four children who are dog respectful and he loves them all. The vet estimated his age at 2.5 years. He hasn't showed any signs of wanting to chew on anything. He hasn't tried to jump up on furniture He is new to foster in Olympia and hasn't yet mastered the stairs LOL. He has made it up half way, so he currently sleeps in his crate downstairs. He does great in the crate and is so happy to see his humans in the morning. Like the experience with the stairs, he can be cautious in new circumstances, but is willing to try. We think with some positive, patient people he would adjust really well. He hasn't been interested in a ball or rope yet, but loves to be petted and scratched. He really engages in interactive play, almost like wrestling, but remains very gentle throughout. He also takes treats very gently. He seems to be a very great fit for kids. He is also curious about what we are doing and mostly stays in rooms with people in them. He's very quiet - we haven't heard him bark yet and he's only made one small play whine so far. We do not know yet his behavior with other dogs. We will be testing that out. Max is such a sweet dog! He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and heart-worm tested NEG!
