About Copper-PENDING!

Cairn / Papillon
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Copper, at just 4 months old and approximately 12 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 18 - 20 lbs) was facing homelessness at such a young and vulnerable age. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with a great temperament (although initially shy until acclimated..then the sweetest guy around)..they rescued Copper just in time. Copper is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous golden coat that is so cottony-soft that you just want to pet him all day. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil is an important life-long supplement for longevity and coat care) to keep his hair soft and very healthy. Copper is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's the world's greatest lap dog and snuggler having a strong, puppyish desire to be loved...and returns that devotion a thousand times over. He's super- smart and very engaging...very typical of the cross of a Terrier and a Papillon. Both of these breeds are known for their sense of humors and fun-loving, positive slant on life. Since Copper is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Copper will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force-free) trainers in your area. We're open to Copper finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a very sweet, extremely loving and super-smart puppy. A younger family would also be great (Copper loves children) that either works part-time or from home. Copper is far too sensitive to be left home alone for the entire day. Copper will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that he be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Copper's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Copper is in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Copper, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
