About Geena

Geena is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Geena is currently fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). Geena is a very sweet shepherd/cattle dog mix saved from Redland, FL. She is estimated to be between 9-12 months of age, and will likely be larger medium-sized (approx. 45 lbs) as adults. Geena is on the submissive side, very obedient, and has a very sweet temperament. She does well with other dogs, is playful and for the most part will share her toys. A simple verbal correction goes a long way with her. She is what I would call a soft dog. Somewhat cautious about new things, and she really needs to be with another dog that is confident and calm. She is not noise-sensitive, but new things are investigated in her own way and time. She does ride well in a car. Geena has a tendency to follow you around and is a bit needy. With some redirection and refocusing, i.e. classes, teaching tricks, or disc, ball, etc., the neediness should disappear. There seems to be a lot in life that she has not experienced. She exhibits the loyalty of most shepherds, and I think she could do well in some dog sports with training. At this time she does not have a lot of drive, although she love the ball and will fetch it back to you. She likes to watch and wait - you can almost see her thinking. Geena will make a great dog to bike, hike or boat with, just a good all-around companion dog. She does well on lead and is housebroken, crate trained, and learning basic commands. Geena is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative.
