About Nal

Meet Nala, a beautiful, friendly and very loving 3-4-year-old black German Shepherd in need of a loving home. Nala originally came to Pal's Place rescue from a high kill shelter in KY in 2016. She was fostered by a wonderful family who quickly fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. Things were going great until recently when their older female Boxer mix decided Nala was no longer welcome in the home. Unfortunately, we do see older females sometimes decide they've had enough of younger females in the home, even if they've coexisted peacefully for years together. In the interest of everyone's safety, the tearful decision was made to re-home Nala. Nala loves other dogs and loves to play. Her previous family had another male dog that was best buddies with her and they also fostered multiple dogs of all ages/sizes over the course of Nala's two years with them and she welcomed everyone into the home. While Nala gets along very well with other dogs, we will not take the chance of placing her in a home with another female dog again. We do not want to put her in a situation where thing may not work out again years down the road. We DO however want to place Nala into a home with at least one other male dog for her to play with. She has always lived with multiple other dogs and really enjoys their companionship. We do not think she'd do well in a home as the only dog. Nala also loves children and will be a great family companion! She is housebroken and crate trained. She is quiet and well behaved in the home when her family is present but can sometimes be a bit mischevious when left to her own devices, so she is still crated when left home alone. Nala is an absolute gem of a dog that will make any Shepherd lover very happy! Nala is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved.
