About Jenny

My name is Jenny and I'm a special needs girl in search of a special home. You see, I had a rough start before coming to the shelter. I was running loose in the wilderness until a good Samaritan spotted me and called the local animal control officer to come get me and bring me to the shelter. I was so scared of humans during that time that the animal control officer had to set a trap to catch me. That was so scary! I was brought to the shelter, after I was caught, and I was given food, fresh water and lots of love. I had been running loose for such a long time that I forgot how to trust humans. The kind people at the shelter have been so patient with me. They are now able to feed treats to me by hand and put a leash on me to take me for walks. Some of the volunteers at the shelter spend time just sitting in my kennel with me petting and talking to me to gain my trust. I've learned that people are kind and just want to help me find my forever home. I really need to go to a home with someone who will be patient with me and who has experience with a timid dog like me. I would really like another dog in the home (preferably a male dog) who I can bond with and learn from. I get frightened if I'm left alone outside so I will need to be adopted by someone who will let me stay in the house when they aren't around. That shouldn't be a problem, though, as the good folks here taught me how to use a crate as my safe spot. One of the shelter workers even taught me how to jump into a car to take a ride around town. Wow! I never knew that there were so many new things that I've been missing out on! The folks at the shelter think I'm about 2 and a half years old and weigh about 50 pounds. I've had all my vaccinations and I'm microchipped. As far as what breed I am, they think that I might be part Shar-pei and part Black Mouth Cur. In typical Shar-pei fashion, I do have some skin allergies. I am on a special food that has really helped me, so, my new owners will need to continue with a food that I am not allergic to.
