About Queen

Please meet Queen, a very pretty gray Poodle who is thought to be about 10 years old, although she acts much younger. She weights about 12 pounds. Queen is one of the group that we dubbed the HOLT 4. Four dogs were dumped in Holt in the woods several months ago. Over the course of a few days, our President and Vice President went out to the woods and trapped them one by one. They were all filthy and covered in fleas. Once they bathed them and shaved their matted fur, they were met with 4 beautiful dogs. One of the girls (Biddie) has already been adopted and has a wonderful home, and the 2 males, Lonnie and Ford, are currently available for adoption as a pair. Now it's Queens turn to find her forever home. She is heartworm negative, microchipped and uses a doggie door at her foster home. Queen will need to go to a home with a fenced yard since she has not yet learned to come when called and can be hard to catch. She will need at least one other dog in the home from who she can gain confidence from and simply learn how to be a beloved pet and family member. She loves to play with the other dogs out in the yard and enjoys playing with toys. She likely never had toys before she came into our rescue. She likes to sleep in her dog bed. She has not yet learned how to walk on a leash. Because of the life she endured previously, we do not want her to go into a home where she would be put in a crate with a closed door. Queen needs a very special family that will have patience and give her the time she needs to trust them. Once you are able to catch her, Queen will let you hold her, pet her and love her. Her new family will need to spend some time working with her and we believe with patience, love and consistency she will continue to grow into a wonderful family member. She really just needs to learn how to be a dog. Queen would not be suitable for a home with young children. She has not been tested with cats. Her fee of $200 is negotiable for the right family.
