She is very friendly and playful and enjoys her stuffed Kongs or antlers. We can't decide if her favorite activity is eating, chewing hooves, getting pets, or sleeping. It is just a mix of all four! Abby likes car rides (she does need some help getting in) and she does OK with baths. They aren't one of her favorites, but she will tolerate them. (No flying soap dogs here!) Abby doesn't have any obedience training, so we highly recommend enrolling her in some classes. Not only will this help her, it will be a great time for her and her new family to bond. Abby is potty trained and will stand by the door when she is ready to go out. Abby is crate trained but doesn't require one. She walks well on a leash, except those few moments when she gets stubborn and want to smell and extra flower or two! Abby loves being with her humans, but also like a little alone time every now and again. Abby does well with older kids (she gets a little too excited with small kids and could knock someone down) and non-dominant male dogs. She doesn't dislike female dogs but can sometimes get a bit aggressive with them and may need some time and patience to work everything out. We do not recommend Abby with cats, birds, or small dogs. Abby came from a very bad situation and can sometimes be scared when she is outside alone, even to potty. She prefers her human to go with her, just to know that her human won't leave her. She can also do some resource guarding with other dogs, but never with humans. This will most likely work out in time once she feels safe in her forever home. Abby would thrive in a quieter home with time for her to just relax. She does enjoy walks and playing outside but is an introvert through and through and needs her down time to rejuvenate.
