About Sawyer-PENDING!

Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're unwanted and at risk of euthanasia at a high- kill shelter. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Sawyer...she could see that his temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Sawyer's rescuer...we were thrilled to welcome this loving and beautiful puppy into our rescue. It turns out that Sawyer, at just about 15 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs (expected to be approximately 28 - 35 lbs when full-grown) is so lovable, super-smart and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for his rescuer and foster mom. Sawyer is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him. If he continues his current regimen with his foster of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans...Sawyer will become a well-adjusted and very loving adult companion. Puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience class will get this very smart puppy ready for a life of inclusion with his family. Through these classes, Sawyer will learn cause and effect in his relationship with other dogs. He will also view his people as his leaders, therefore developing a desire to please and to be partners with his family. Sawyer would also be a natural for agility classes and fly ball. He would have so much fun and come to enjoy this special time spent with his favorite humans. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Sawyer is a gorgeous Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix puppy with a shining, cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix. His stunning coat will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is an amazing life-long supplement for coat care and longevity). A family that loves Sawyer like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this silly/fun, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that he is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Sawyer will be overjoyed if his future holds hikes along Colorado trails enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with other hikers and their dogs will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this wonderful puppy. We'd love a family for Sawyer that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Sawyer can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. He can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere with the assurance that he'll be a social and appropriate guy. Sawyer will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to his very young age. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to his neuter, microchip and any additional puppy shots he might require if our Denver vet is used. Sawyer will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid-May (we'll confirm the date as soon as it's finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out and submit. **PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Sawyer, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
