About Logan-ADOPTION PENDING

Anatolian Shepherd / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter. Logan, at only 12 weeks old and 20 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 45 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began due to lack of space at the shelter. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Logan just in time. This sweet and engaging Australian Shepherd/Border Collie puppy is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Logan is incredibly beautiful...with his gorgeous, shining black coat and cuter than cute polka-dot nose and feet...brilliant colors that have come out since he received a sudsy bath after his release from the shelter. To keep Logan's coat gorgeous and healthy as he grows, he will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong choice for longevity and coat care) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Logan is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's super- smart which is very typical of the herding dog breeds. Logan is so loving and very sweet...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Logan is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion and will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) while learning positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force- free) trainers in your area. We're open to Logan finding his forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Logan is great with children as well...we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen. We're seeking a home for our sweet guy where the family is retired or either works from home or just part-time. Logan is far too sensitive to spend long days alone at home. Logan will be up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will be neutered when he arrives from New Mexico, however a very young puppy like Logan is often deemed too young to neuter. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Logan to be fixed in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Logan will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 5/19/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Logan please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
