About Hansel

OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. Hi, my name is Hansel. I was rescued by K-9 Angels with my sister Gretel, and we have been fostered together, but I am becoming my own independent puppy and looking to be adopted soon. My foster Mom says I'd do really well in a home with at least one other dog since I'm used to sharing a home with several dogs and enjoying all their company. If you'd like to also adopt my sister Gretel, that would be really special! But more about me�'�|I'm highly relational. I really love to be in my foster Mom's lap or just get eye contact and physical touch. I'm a little timid with new people and pets, but if you give me a minute and show me its safe, I warm up really well. I love everyone I've met - children, adults, and other dogs. I've never been introduced to cats, so we don't know how I'd do, but I do respect physical space. I am great to take on walks. I have learned to heel on the left side and sit before crossing the street. I'm very smart and will quickly pick up on anything routine and consistent. I am potty trained too! And I can sleep in the kennel by myself all night without making a sound. For a puppy, I'm actually very calm natured. I do enjoy playing with toys and racing around the yard when I have spurts of energy, but ultimately my favorite thing is just being in someone's lap. I really want my loving forever home soon! Hansel is a Male Dachshund Mix that we estimate to be born around 3/3/2018. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
