Hello! Toast recently joined our family after adopting him from a couple that were neglecting him. They had been punishing him by putting him in a very small crate, would apparently withhold food (feeding no more than 3 cups per day), let him run free, etc. No training at all. They did not tell us this upfront however, it was discovered after we brought him home and he was out of control, more than normal stress and anxiety from a move. We simply don't have the energy train a dog from scratch and his extreme wild energy is scaring our kids. So I think it would be better for him to go to a family that has the energy to properly train him. Toast is a wonderful dog and loves kids, but he is quite large and rambunctious and might scare small children. He loves our cats and gets sad when they don't return the affection. He tries to play with them but hides behind things if they hiss. He's only barked at them if he's swiped at because they don't want to be sniffed. He does not appear to like other dogs and whimpers and tries to hide if he sees one at a distance. We haven't had him up close to any other dogs so we don't know how he'd respond close up. He's a sweet doofball and deserves the best of homes.
