About Amber-ADOPTION PENDING

Lab / Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Amber, at 3 months old and just about 10 lbs (anticipated full-grown weight of 38 - 42 lbs) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this wonderful dog so filled with love...they rescued Amber just in time. This sweet and engaging Labrador Retriever/Cattle Dog mix, while initially just a bit shy until comfortable in her surroundings, is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Amber is also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white hair with a touch of gold that decorate her soft as cotton coat. Amber is part of a new breed mix that is drawing people's attention...and therefore opportunistically bred for quick sales. She is a sweet as can be and super-smart Australian Cattle Dog mixed with a Labrador Retriever...hoping for the smaller size and super-intelligence of the Cattle Dog mixed with the very easy-going and agreeable nature of the Lab. Amber is the perfect size to accompany her family on long hikes (both Labs and Cattle Dogs are excellent hiking companions and love the togetherness!) or any fun and active adventures. She would be a natural at agility or flyball..having the enthusiasm and sense of fun to love the challenge. Amber is appropriately playful and fun-loving for her young age. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Amber absolutely loves her humans (as well as her canine foster brother) and is so excited to spend quality time together. Amber is an extremely loving pup (and the perfect size to be a take-along girl) who loves to cuddle close and is over the moont for special belly rubs and kind words. Since Amber is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through puppy kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in you area). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. We're open to Amber finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young, active and very smart dog. Amber is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can handle her gently so she learns that children are wonderful best friends. Amber will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too many dogs and not enough vets in this impoverished area of New Mexico. If she isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Amber to be spayed/microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Amber will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 5/19/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Amber, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
