�'��TILLIE-G was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed for space. TILLIE-G is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 31 March 2016 and weighs around 37.80 pounds. She has been listed as a German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, so it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. TILLIE-G is a sweet medium sized German Shepherd mix, she is very gentle with people, takes treats gently and is very affectionate. She had a meet and greet with a family with two young children and she was just perfect. She was loving, she listened to them and let them cuddle and pet her, they walked her (indoors) on a leash and she did great. They didn't adopt her but it was a very difficult decision for them to choose the other dog. She loved to be up on the visitors sofa and clearly enjoyed the comfort when she didn't want to get down. She was originally in a double kennel with another GSD, however, she was guarding the food from the other dog and growling so I put her in a pen on her own. This is common behaviour from stray dogs and she was not aggressive, just giving out warning growls, to which the dog responded. She does not have any negative behaviour with humans and her food and toys, or treats. She is a more submissive girl and is very responsive and training would be a lot of fun and easy when done properly. It is important to note the German Shepherds need alpha humans, if they do not respect and listen to their humans, then they will step up to the alpha role, so this is something for any family to strongly consider. TILLIE-G is a medium energy girl and will need lots of mental stimulation, and physical exercise, road trips and adventures to new places are good options. Her size and personality makes her an awesome family pet. TILLIE-G does use the dog door to go out to do her business or enjoy the fresh air in her run. I do not know if she would let you know she needs to go out since she has 24/7 access to the outside, but she is extremely smart and do not think it would take long to learn. TILLIE-G is great with other dogs and is happy to run around chasing and wrestling. She does bark and play through the fence with her kennel neighbour but is very responsive when told to stop. She has not shown any sign of aggression at all. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how she would be near or around them. She needs an active family, I have not seen her with children, but her demeanor and personality I have no doubt that she would be great with them and a lot of fun too. As with all rescue's she needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with her themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. �'��We do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks. Tillie-G is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
