About Hazel

Hi there! My name is Hazel and I am a sweet and petite pit bull mix who is looking for her forever home! I am approximately a year old and weigh about 30 pounds, so I am the perfect medium sized girl. When Paws for Life rescued me, I was pretty sick with demodex mange (don't worry, it isn't contagious), internal parasites, and a wound on my belly. With a little love, special baths, and medication, I am almost good as new again. My skin feels so much better and soon I will have all of my fur back!!! I have quickly settled into my foster home and get along well with the other dogs that live there. I also am good with the children in my foster home (ages 10 and 6), but I sometimes have to be reminded not to jump on them when I get excited. It is probably best if I go to a house without cats, as I tend to chase them and want to play too rough. I love to play with all toys, including ones with squeakers, rope toys, and Kongs; however my favorite activity is snuggling with my family members. I enjoy ear scratches, belly rubs, and I love to give kisses. I am starting to learn my manners and I will sit when asked to do so, especially if I get rewarded with a yummy snack. I walk pretty well on a leash, but sometimes am a little nervous in new situations so my new owner will need to help me learn to be confident when walking. I am still working on my house training and will go potty when taken outside, but sometimes I forget to let my foster family know when I need to go. They think it is best for me to be taken out frequently so I don't have accidents. I am crate trained, and spend the day in my crate while my foster family is away. I usually go right in and haven't had any accidents in my crate since the first couple of days when I was rescued. I am up to date on all of my vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped.
