About Lance

** COME MEET ME AT OUR NEXT ADOPTION EVENT on Saturday, August 11 from 10 am - 1 pm at Rural King in Elyria, 430 Oberlin Road. If you are interested in possibly adopting me and taking me home that day, please complete an adoption application for approval by Wednesday, August 8 so there is enough time to process your app.** Lance is a 9 year old Rat Terrier mix who found himself with MBR after his owner passed away. He is a little unsure of new people at first but he seems to come around once he knows he is safe. Lance is house broken and crate trained; he comes when he's called and has learned to sit on command. Lance is very sweet and very loving. He prefers to sleep under blankets if given the choice. He occasionally plays with toys but generally is happy to sit with you and get belly rubs. He is considered dog friendly but would do best as an only dog, as he is protective of 'his person'. While he has improved in his reaction to the dogs he lives with in his foster home, he does not like to be caught off guard by them if he is asleep and they jump and scare him. Lance is considered 'special needs' because he has Diabetes and requires insulin shots twice a day. His vision is somewhat limited in one eye from cataracts but he navigates fine and plays with his toys and friends without issue. Lance is on a fairly rigid feeding schedule so he can receive his insulin safely. With this being said, do not let Lance's medical condition stop you from meeting him! Everything that he needs related to the Diabetes costs less than $20 a month. He is very, very sweet and has so much love to give. He does not act sick or old, and with proper care, dogs with Diabetes can live normal lives just as long as other dogs.
