About Jeeves

Adoption Fee: $300
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is Jeeves, a lovable, snuggly 5 year old male Australian Shepherd (he'll be 6 in December).%BD%A0 He looks like a Border Collie with his long tail and black and white coloration, but we have his Continental Kennel Club certificate of registration that has him registered as a purebred Aussie, so apparently they just didn't dock his tail when he was born. He's cute, playful, and LOVES people beyond measure.%BD%A0 He is confident and friendly and can't get enough of snuggles.%BD%A0 He loves men, women, and older children (he's not thrilled about babies, especially crying ones, but he tolerates them). We will provide Jeeves' bed, a partial big bag of his high-quality dog food, his collar, a leash, his rug.%BD%A0 We will also give you his registration paperwork, vet records, and ask that you and we all sign duplicate records indicating that we are transferring full ownership and any future liability of Jeeves to you, to make it all official that he is becoming 100% yours. %BD%A0 GOOD THINGS ABOUT JEEVES: -He is incredibly smart. True to his herding dog stereotype, he is intensely focused on pleasing you if you're training him.%BD%A0 He wants to get things right, picks up on training fast, and will do ANYTHING for hotdogs.%BD%A0 He would be an excellent agility dog, herding dog, truffle hunting dog, you name it!%BD%A0 -Commands he knows: sit, down, head down, stay, come, go to your rug, 'roadkill', shake, high five. -When we leave to go anywhere, we just let him roam the house.%BD%A0 He sacks out on his bed, the carpet, or the couch, and he has never destroyed anything while we're away.%BD%A0 He does not seem to have any separation anxiety at all when we're gone, because we come back to a quite house with him asleep and no signs of distress or destruction. -In the evening, when we settle in for the night, he settles in, too.%BD%A0 He is calm and just chills with us while we relax at the house.%BD%A0 He loves to get going in the morning and do things during the day, but at night he can relax with us. -He will follow you around with a look of adoration in his eyes all.%BD%A0 Day.%BD%A0 Long.%BD%A0 If you like that, great!%BD%A0 If not, he definitely won't be a good fit for you, because he will follow you like a velcro dog and just look at you like you're everything to him all day.%BD%A0 -He walks very well on a leash. NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT JEEVES: -Number one challenge - he can't go to a home with other dogs.%BD%A0 He will romp and play and get along with dogs initially, but he is very resource aggressive.%BD%A0 It doesn't matter if it's a toy, a piece of food, a piece of tissue floating across the floor, his crate space, his house space - he wants every other dog to know it's his, and that creates problems.%BD%A0 He's never drawn blood from another dog, but he will snarl ferociously.%BD%A0 He has also attacked dogs many times in defense of his stuff.%BD%A0 He absolutely can NOT go to a house with other dogs. He has never directed any resource aggression towards people, just other dogs.%BD%A0 -He gets excited/agitated when people knock on the door.%BD%A0 He will scramble towards the door barking an intimidating bark.%BD%A0 Once the door is open, he's full of love and tail wagging for whoever is all the door, but when they're just approaching or knocking, boy does he let you know.%BD%A0 He doesn't bark at people walking by on the street, or kids playing outside, or bikes or other dogs at the window or anything like that - just people approaching the door. -He is not good with cats or small animals.%BD%A0 We're just assuming this because he tries to chase them when he sees them (mostly cats and squirrels) on walks.%BD%A0 He is a pretty intense cat chaser. -We just aren't sure how Jeeves does around babies and toddlers, long term.%BD%A0 If kids are like six years and older, he adores them, absolutely enjoys them and will play with them all day.%BD%A0 But babies, we aren't sure about.%BD%A0 He's been around a few babies, but he doesn't seem to really care for them (just kind of avoids them).%BD%A0 We've had our adopted son home for one month, he's two years old, and while Jeeves hasn't done anything negative towards him, Jeeves doesn't really enjoy him.%BD%A0 He whines and gets agitated if we're having fun and giggling with our son, he gets agitated when our son cries, etc.%BD%A0 In Jeeves' best interest, and because we just don't know how he'd tolerate babies/toddlers long term, we don't want him to go to a home with little kids, or a home that will have little kids coming into the home in the near future. PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE ABOUT JEEVES IF ANY OF THESE STATEMENTS ARE TRUE: 1. If you haven't read the full bio on Jeeves above 2. If you have other dogs%BD%A0 3. If you have small animals that run loose (cats, etc.) 4. If you have toddlers or babies (kids six and older are okay) 5. If you live in an apartment 6. If you are
