About Dustin

Doberman Pinscher
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Hi! My name is Dustin. I'm cropped, docked and very handsome. I'm also a very energetic, young, and fun-loving type of guy! So, things weren't so good for me when I came to DVDPA. I was actually found on a road with an injury to my right front leg and very underweight. I was so happy that DVDPA took me in and sent me for evaluation with an orthopedic surgeon right away. They said I actually had a dislocated elbow from some type of trauma. So, off to surgery I went. I was told it was a long surgery due to the amount of damage that needed to be fixed. Of course I came out of surgery like a champ and went right into a foster home. Well, fast forward to now and I can say I feel like a new dog. I have been rehabbed and have come so far. I was actually in so much pain and underweight when I was found that the authorities estimated me to be 6 years old. Well, my foster mom actually found out that I just turned 2 years old! And guess what? I actually act my real age (and sometimes younger)! So, now that I am feeling so much better, my foster mom says I'm ready for my forever home! Yup!! I know my foster mom loves me (she tells me all the time) and I'm grateful for all that she's done...but I am truly excited to find my own home! I think my foster mom will be a little picky when selecting my new home because she knows how special I am. I do need a home who will continue with my exercises to keep my elbow strong. I will always have a little limp, but it doesn't slow me down! At this time, it does restrict me from playing with other dogs. I love running around and chasing balls and playing with all types of toys! I definitely need an active home who can make sure I get the appropriate amount of exercise and to continue my obedience training and socialization. I really enjoy long walks and hiking on the trails. Actually, I'm pretty much up for any type of adventure and ready to open the next chapter in my life! Since I was found as a stray, my foster mom doesn't know my background. She doesn't think I was very socialized with other dogs so I would do best as the only pet in the house. I'll need someone to continue working on my socialization so I understand there are a lot of good things out in the world. I would do best in a home with children over the age of 12 and no cats. I have lots of energy and wouldn't want to knock one over.
