About McDreamy

This is McDreamy and he is currently at Peaceable Kingdom in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. His name is just as it suggests. He's very handsome and a love bug. He hates cats so we have already found if a volunteer, or even someone he knows, smells of a cat, he will back up and start aggressively barking as if to say 'back off.' He does show friendly interest in the larger dogs, and completely ignores the smaller ones. He is going to a training class on Saturdays and is already learning to 'leave it' and other basic commands. We have had a behavior specialist come to observe him from an hour away and she noticed an almost 'flight or fight' reaction in him where it takes seconds for him to decide he doesn't like something or someone and his reaction is to become aggressive. He does not viciously attack, and its not always frequent that he doesn't like someone or something, but he lets you know something is not okay, and being 80 pounds of muscle, we don't want to take our chances and push him any further so we leave him be. That being said, we are worried it is going to be very difficult to find him the right home. We are hoping to find a shelter that specializes in the breed that can work with him and help to find this handsome dream boat his RIGHT forever home. We have a three bite limit in which we then consider euthanasia. He has already been documented with two very innocent bites. We are desperately reaching out because we would hate for anything to happen to him at no fault of his own, but only because we are not equipped nor do we fully have the knowledge of how to handle the breed. We would love to find a shelter that we could work with now and in the future for any other Pit Bulls that might come through our doors and need your help.
