About Eva-ADOPTION PENDING

Poodle / Bichon Frise
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Eva is a dignified older lady who, In her senior years, was found on the side of a rural road in southern Texas. An animal control officer was visiting family on a hot and sticky day when he noticed a motionless fuzzy being partially in the road. When he stopped to investigate, he found Eva - overwhelmed with heat, in dire need of water..but still able to show her gratitude with a weak lick. He quickly scooped her up, provided water and gently placed her in the passenger seat. Her savior rushed Eva to the local shelter for vet assessment and care. Luck was on her side that day...our compassionate rescuer was in the shelter lobby and had the pleasure of meeting Eva as she arrived. The decision took seconds...after she held her close and Eva snuggled in with so much love and trust, our rescuer knew this sweet girl was coming home with her. Farfel's was contacted hours later and we happily accepted Eva into Farfel's Rescue. Eva, at 15 lbs (such a perfect size for walks as well as lap-sitting) and approximately 9.5 years old has many healthy years left to be a full-time best friend. (Poodles and Poodle mixes often live to a very ripe old age). Eva would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that wonderful spirit in their lives. She will be by your side to hug and love on..a kind and loving being to hold close when the challenges of the world seem overwhelming. At the same time, Eva is a low-maintenance girl who also has the ability to keep herself busy (or take a nap) while her family is involved in other things. Eva's vet assessment was almost perfect. It was found that she has age-related changes in her eyes..and therefore her vision may be compromised. It was also found that she favors one back leg slightly more than another...neither of these concern Eva (or the vets) in the least! She's a happy, very, very sweet and kind girl who just wants to be a member of a family where she will be loved like crazy..and she will return that devotion a million times over. After spending time with Eva, her Texas foster is positive that this beautiful girl was loved very much at one time as she's well-adjusted with high self-esteem. She had the following to say about sweet Eva: Eva is such a sweet, super- smart and wonderful girl! My whole family loves her so much already. Eva has been great with both my dogs (like-sized to Eva). She loves very gentle kids...my neighbor's children who are 9 and 11 fell in love with her and she with them! They had so much fun watching movies and eating popcorn with Eva wedged so happily between them...such a touching scenario. Eva is very respectful of my home and has been a welcome guest! She's a quiet spirit but loves to interact (in a very positive way) with my dogs. They go into the yard, do some patrolling and then enjoy the sunshine. Then the best part ever...Eva lies close beside me on the couch with her beautiful head draped over my leg. Eva may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Eva with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home. For those family members who enjoy neighborhood walks and time outside, Eva would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her foster loves daily walks to socialize with neighbors and Eva comes along. She is very happy for these daily outings, fascinated by the activity around her. Eva breathes in the air...so happy to be out and about. And then, maybe her favorite part, it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot close beside her beloved family members. As a Poodle/Bichon mix (or purebred Poodle), Eva is a non-shedding girl (often considered to be the most hypoallergenic breeds available today). She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is excellent for lifelong coat care and longevity), to keep her coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Farfel's has requested that Eva be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur in this industrial area of Texas with many, many homeless dogs and not enough vets to care for them. It it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Eva's spay/microchip if our Denver vet is used. Eva is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/1/18. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet girl. If interested in this beautiful ...and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Eva, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application.
