Looking to find LUCY a forever home. This past week I was out running at cotton belt trail. When I got back to the parking lot I saw this sweet girl just sitting there. Someone had pulled in, dumped some food on the ground, and left her. I gave her some water, but all she wanted was to be loved. I called a few of the local shelters, but it was just after 5:30 so everyone was closed. The best anyone could do was take a message and they'd check it out first thing in the morning. I just couldn't leave her in that parking lot by that highway all night. I loaded her up and brought her home. Camie was waiting for us and ready to get to work cleaning her up. She had black and grey stained all around her neck from whatever chain she had been tied too. I'm guessing she had never had a bath because we start cleaning and immediately found fleas and ticks. I went to the store to get shampoo and Camie kept working. When I got home she had pulled OVER 30 ticks off her. Camie washed her about 5 times and every time she got softer and softer. She was so sweet the whole time too. Just laid there half asleep just being happy. We gave her food and let her sleep in the kennel. She passed out right away and slept all night. Probably her 1st safe nights sleep of her entire life. The next day we took her to our vet to get her checked out. No micro chip. So we had them do a full exam. She checked out great. All the fleas and ticks were gone. Her teeth are in great shape. They said she is just under 2 years old. They gave her all her shots. The only downside was that she tested positive for heart worm. So they started the treatment process for that. She is not spayed so that is also a next step. We got her a collar and tag, and named her Lucy. Next we brought her home and introduced her to our other dog, Aussie Logan. They didn't become best friends at first sight. Logan is high energy and always wants to play. Lucy is clam and collective. She wants to be by your side. She loves to sit on the chair with my wife and cuddle. She did great when we went to Petco and even let some kids pet her. She is making up for all the love she missed out on until this point. While we would love to keep her, it is looking more and more like it won't be a good fit for us, Logan, or Lucy. We want to help find her a loving home that will make her apart of their family. PM my wife or I if you are interested or know someone who is interested. Please SHARE so we can find her a home.
