About Tippy

Tippy is a very sweet 13 year old, 16-pound dog whose owner is no longer able to care for her. Unfortunately she is not without medical 'baggage' that will most likely bring her demise sooner than later. After a recent vet visit, she has the following conditions that require dedicated daily care: - She is losing protein through her urine so she drinks more water than normal which causes occasional accidents if she's not let out every 3-4 hours. She does very well in her crate at night and when left alone. - Her bloodwork is good but there are deficiencies in her kidney function. - She has a heart murmur and may benefit from blood pressure medication. - She has skin/yeast issues that cause her to have an odor and continually scratch herself. She needs to be bathed frequently and a topical spray or steroid might help. - She has a large cyst in one ear that should be removed but can't be done due to her inability to be put under anesthesia. - She is hard of hearing but is very alert in her vision. She is not in pain and has moments of running around as a puppy, but then she takes very long naps. She eats well and enjoys the company of people and other dogs. At her age and with her medical issues, the best plan of care would be to keep her as comfortable as possible until her health issues are too much for her to handle.
