About Lily needs a home :(

Adoption Fee: $40
Domestic Cat / Maine Coon
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Our sweet cat Lily is 8 years young and has been an indoor only cat her entire life. When we 1st got her,it was just us and one quiet, older child. Lily was content. She has always been skittish around children, but with the one older child she was fine. Then came our second child, which also wasn't a problem at first. Things have been getting worse for Lily in the last 2 years. My youngest is now older and very active. We moved to a neighborhood FULL of equally active children his age and I began caring for my nieces and nephew during the days... The house is pretty much full of children, noise and activity all the time. This has led to poor Lily spending almost all of her time hiding in the boiler room behind a water heater. She also lives with a cat and dog who she always did ok with, but recently has been shying away from since we moved. It is clear to me that she has had enough of all this activity and ruckus and is showing signs of extreme stress. I love her to bits, but hiding in a boiler room 90% of the time is not the way I want to see her live. I've really wrestled with this decision, but it's clear to me that she is miserable here. We barely see her come out, then when she does the other cat picks fights with her. I can't stop my kid from having friends play at our house and I need the income from babysitting my sister's 3 kids (ages 4, 2 and 10 months to give an idea of the noise level). She could never live in a shelter, she's just too anxious. I'd rather have her be anxious and sad here than even more anxious and sad at the ASPCA, so I will keep her if needed. Summer is coming and that will mean the kids are home more and what little respite she gets will diminish :( SO, I'm really hoping to find her a quiet, adult home where she can relax and be doted on for the next 8 to 10 years or so. She is a Maine coon mix & triple pawed, so she has big, goofy feet. And don't let her age discourage you... Maine coons are known to be very hearty- I once had a Maine coon mix live to be 21 yrs old! She's very loving, she'll bat her paws gently at your face or hands to try and get you to pat her. She's gotten a bit rollie-poly in the last year or 2 because of all the hiding / not being active. Otherwise she is very healthy. She was utd on her shots until this past February, but because she has never been outside, we only ever did rabies shots. She's been spayed and is very healthy (if a bit chubby). Litter trained etc. I put an adoption fee of $40 in hopes of keeping people with bad intentions away. It can be a check made out to the ASPCA or some other charity or any proof of similar donation though (receipt etc). If you think your home would be a good fit for this shy, chubby sweetheart of a cat, please TEXT or email me asap! Thanks for reading!
