About Barney

It is with sadness that we need to let our sweet boy Barney go. Please consider taking him in so that we do not have to have him put down -- we are giving it one week. Here are the details: Barney is 50% pit, 25% boxer, and 25% lovable mutt living in East Orlando. He is approximately 10 years old, has beautiful blue eyes, and solid brown/grey fur. He loves to cuddle and is in good health. He is great with kids, people, and other dogs of all sizes. Barney has left his imprint on our lives, and taught me just how loyal and loving pits can be. We need to let him go because we are in a neighborhood, and Barney has a habit of darting out of the house and attacking cats. He would do better in a large, fenced-in area in the country, with plenty of space to roam and less worry of him finding innocent kitties. Please note that, while he is great with kids, it may be best for his next home if any children are old enough to understand how important it is that doors are not left opened. Please also note that Barney has a history of swallowing toys--again, this may not be conducive to a home with small children, or with dog toys. This is a very, very difficult decision for our family. We recently had our fence rebuilt, installed baby gates, and hired a trainer with the hope that this would not happen again. Unfortunately, in a home with a small child we just cannot expect a dog to stay inside if a door is accidentally left wide open, and we cannot see this happen again to any of our neighbors' pets.
