About Legion

Adoption Fee: $275
Beagle / Pug
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Legion. He's a sturdy 43 pound male Beagle / Lo-sze Pugg mix. He is just over a year old. Legion is a very special dog. He's a hero. He woke his family up in time to escape their burning house. Unfortunately, the house was destroyed and they couldn't take him where they had to go. He spent some time in an over-filled shelter and his time was almost up when he came to us. He was very sad and scared, but he's doing much better now. Legion is a very loving dog. He just wants to be near us and make sure we are safe. One of his favorite things to do is cuddle with us, with his head on our lap, or touching us with his paw. He was a little shy when we first rescued him, however he soon acclimated to our house. Legion loves to run and play with our two dogs, chase after balls (and usually bring them back), sit and pull the stuffing out of his toys, or just make them repeatedly squeak. He is good with children (he came from a family with kids who loved him) and adults, once he gets comfortable with you. He is curious about cats, but they don't seem to share his interest. He's OK on a leash, but does pull. He understands 'sit', 'come', 'off' and 'leave it'. However, doesn't always react immediately. He needs additional training classes to help him with these skills and to help reduce his anxiety in meeting new people. Legion is ready to settle down with his forever family. He needs a home with daily cuddling on the couch/bed and a fenced in yard. He is crate trained for short periods. However, he has trouble relaxing when his people aren't there, so he needs a home where he won't be left alone for long periods of time. He would do best in a home with another dog so that he is never completely alone. The family that adopts Legion will be getting a happy, energetic, and loyal family member. He still has problems with crowds, and small children. We would keep him ourselves if we didn't already have a full house. We are going to miss him very much, but we know that he will be going to a wonderful new home, and be very happy with his new family. If you think you might be the one(s) for him, please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application. Legion is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit him will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $275, he is current on all vaccines, microchipped and neutered. His adoptive family will be required to attend training classes with him. Local Adopters Only Please.
