About Fiona

Adoption Fee: $300
Rottweiler mix

Hi All! My name is Fiona! I'm an approximately 4 month old long hair Rottie mix girl. I came from a shelter in Virginia where I was brought with my sister Birdie. The folks with Southern States came to get us out to make sure we could live a nice, safe life. Shortly after we got to our first foster momma, she found out we were a little bit sick but she took good care of us and we are all better now and in our permanent foster home. We've been at our current foster home for about a month and get to plaaaaaaaaaaay so much with our foster doggie brother and sisters as well as the foster kitty brother and sisters. Oh, and they have little people too! I love the little people! My main purpose in life (at least right now) is to fetch large tennis balls. I have an awesome collection of 3! I'll have to show you them sometime, but only if you throw them for me when I do. I really, really, really love to fetch!! Did I mention I love to fetch? Ok, so every now and then I'll play with my sister and the other dogs too, but even that usually involves my tennis balls. Sometimes we play with toy snakes too. That's kind of fun and I'm learning tug-o-war from my foster doggie brother and sisters who are tug-o-war masters. My foster doggie sister especially likes to tease me and grab one of the balls away and make me chase her for it. I'm pretty demanding when it comes to my balls though. Sometimes I get a little possessive of them and I have to put my foster doggie sister in her place when she really starts messing with me. We've got a good understanding though. She leaves me alone after I bark at her a few times and cover the ball with my body. It is mine afterall! Getting back to fetching balls though, I'm so about this that I will do anything you want me to in order for you to play fetch with me. I retrieve the balls, drop them at your feet and sit patiently and wait for you to throw that ball again. I know, I'm so well behaved for that ball at my age it's kind of crazy. I'm just so obsessed with fetch ya know. Priorities! There are times in my day when I don't have my tennis ball. It's true. At those times I'd have to say I'm pretty well behaved for a puppy. I'm learning that it's pretty nice to get snuggles and pets and I'm really starting to sit still long enough to enjoy that. Did I mention I know how to sit? I'm still a pup so I don't always listen the first time my foster momma tells me something, but we've been working on that. I do know how to sit and wait patiently for my food. We worked on that awhile because Birdie and I were pretty jumpy chow hounds when we came here and felt like we had to be first to our food and chow it down so we'd get to eat. Since we've been with our foster family though, we get our own food, in our own area and I'm starting to realize that it's not a race to the finish when it comes to food. I also do really well in my crate. I have my dinosaur to chew on and a cool Kong that foster momma stuffs with treats when she has to leave me in there for awhile. It's kind of cool having my own space like that. I also go right to the door to go outside to do my business. Sometimes I get confused though. I'm used to hanging out in one area of my foster home but sometimes I get to venture into new areas where I'm not quite familiar and may have an accident in my excitement and confusion. Once I get to know where I'm supposed to go, I do. I'm really starting to master this little door called a doggie door. I get to go in and out of it as much as I want but I'm always in full run whether I'm coming or going so foster momma has to remind me to slow my roll when I come inside sometimes. Ooops! I do pretty well walking on a leash too. I'm still a puppy so I don't know everything but I sure am up for learning! P.S. In case you didn't realize that I'm very toy motivated....specifically my tennis balls, I do really well with learning when my tennis ball is the reward (wink)! If you'd like more information about me or to meet me sometime, please fill out an adoption application and one of the adoption coordinators will get in touch with you and hopefully we'll get a chance to meet, and play fetch, soon!
