About Birdie

Rottweiler mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hi All! My name is Birdie! I'm an approximately 4 month old Rottie mix girl. I came from a shelter in Virginia where I was brought with my sister Fiona. The folks with Southern States came to get us out to make sure we could live a nice, safe life. Shortly after we got to our first foster momma, she found out we were a little bit sick but she took good care of us and we are all better now and in our permanent foster home. We've been at our current foster home for about a month and get to plaaaaaaaaaaay so much with our foster doggie brother and sisters as well as the foster kitty brother and sisters. Oh, and they have little people too! I love the little people! I like to test my luck with one of my foster kitty sisters. She puts me in my place though and I respect that. It's just so tempting to chase her around but she really doesn't want to do that. If I persist my foster mom tells me to leave her alone and so I do. Darn! Don't they know I just want to play tag with her? I leave my older foster kitty sister alone though. She just doesn't seem that fun. My foster kitty brother is as big as I am so I'm too scared of him to try to play. I mostly really love to run and act like I'm one of the big dogs. They love to play too and I really try to get in the mix and outplay them all. Unfortunately, I get winded when I play hard or exert myself too much. I heard my foster momma talking to the vet about that not being normal so the rescue, my foster momma and my vet are working together to figure out what's going on with me. I really try very hard to not let it stop me though and other than that, I'm a super normal, happy puppy. The best thing about when I get tired though is that my foster momma or the littles are usually nearby so I just head over to one of them and lean on them for some snuggles and rest time. I really like to snuggle, but I so want to play. I think I kind of like them equally though. It's hard being a puppy sometimes with those kinds of decisions to make. I think I'm going to grow up to be a med to large size dog and if my breathing improves I'm sure to be up for whatever kind of activity my forever family has in store for me. I'm up for it now actually, I just need a little rest sometimes. Oh, did I mention I know how to sit? I'm still a pup so I don't always listen the first time my foster momma tells me something, but we've been working on that. I do know how to sit and wait patiently for my food. We worked on that awhile because Fiona and I were pretty jumpy chow hounds when we came here and felt like we had to be first to our food and chow it down so we'd get to eat. Since we've been with our foster family though, we get our own food, in our own area and I'm starting to realize that it's not a race to the finish when it comes to food. I also do really well in my crate. I have my dinosaur to chew on and a cool Kong that foster momma stuffs with treats when she has to leave me in there for awhile. It's kind of cool having my own space like that. I also go right to the door to go outside to do my business. Sometimes I get confused though. I'm used to hanging out in one area of my foster home but sometimes I get to venture into new areas where I'm not quite familiar and may have an accident in my excitement and confusion. Once I get to know where I'm supposed to go, I do. I'm really starting to master this little door called a doggie door. I get to go in and out of it as much as I want but I'm always in full run whether I'm coming or going so foster momma has to remind me to slow my roll when I come inside sometimes. Ooops! I do pretty well walking on a leash too. I'm still a puppy so I don't know everything but I sure am up for learning! P.S. Treats help me learn faster (wink)! If you'd like more information about me or to meet me sometime, please fill out an adoption application and one of the adoption coordinators will get in touch with you and hopefully we'll get a chance to meet soon!
