About Petunia

Petunia is a lovely, medium haired, Calico girl. Her coloring is very vibrant. She is about 10 years old. She is bonded with Ricky, a stunning, long haired, loving and fluffy black boy. He is about 8 years old. They were left behind when their first owner died of cancer, and a woman took them in. She had them about 5 years. It took a while for them to be affectionate with her, but once they trusted her they slept on her bed, brought their toys to her and sat on her lap occasionally. They lived upstairs most of the time, lying around in sunny patches on rugs in the upstairs living room, coming down in the afternoons to be with her downstairs and to eat or drink. They were neat with the litter box. They are indoor cats. Sadly the second owner passed away recently. She was going to have these cats euthanized. When asked for the reason, it turned out that as a nurse, she felt that most people do not give their cats and dogs proper care, which is why she wanted to have them put down. Ricky has been very connected with the caretaker (the daughter of the deceased woman). He likes to sit on her lap and even takes naps on it. She is unable to keep them because they already have the maximum limit of cats. As a cat lover myself who adopted a senior kitty about 4 years ago and who I completely treasure, I cannot fathom having to euthanize healthy kitties just because of their age. However, if they are taken into a shelter, they will surely be euthanized. There must be a kind and caring human out there willing to give these two bonded, lovely cats a permanent home. I would think that their recently deceased owner would smile down from heaven if we can make that happen for them. They are located in Stockton, CA.
