About Orson

American Bulldog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet ORSON: American Bulldog, 6 years old, 58 pounds, medium energy Also see this video: https://www.facebook.com/outtathecage/videos/820496958141856/ It was in one of Lolys Menchaka's regular Facebook posts that Jill noticed Orson. The video showed a bulldog mix moaning plaintively in his kennel at Inland Valley Humane Society (IVHS). Someone commented that Orson seemed to be in pain, so Jill went to take a video of him. When Orson entered the play yard, he transformed from a dog in distress into a big goofball. Jill was smitten. With the help of Angie Wiedenkeller and Sandra Jones, IVHS released Orson on a health waiver. Jill's veterinarian diagnosed severe ear infections in both ears. 'He's likely suffered from chronic ear infections all his life,' the vet said. After a second opinion confirmed this, Orson underwent Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) surgery, effectively removing his ear canals to stop the recurring infections. Orson was a trooper through the surgery and recovery. Although he would now be deaf, he was finally pain-free. Jennifer Gray worked with Orson to teach him sign language, and he was a quick study. Finally, Outta the Cage found Orson a nice family with two other dogs, a big backyard to play in, and a comfy couch in front of the TV. Orson's dad worked from home, so everyone got constant attention and play time. Orson loved roaming the backyard with his two doggie siblings, Max and Gypsy. His dad would often find him napping under one of the bushes in the garden. After an uneventful year, Max became ill and suddenly began attacking Orson. Now deaf, Orson never saw these attacks coming. The poor guy was confused and constantly nervous. He would cower in fear, unable to relax, and was pretty beat-up. His parents determined that he needed to be re-homed for his own safety. Jill found a wonderful foster for Orson, and he's now a happy boy again. He does daily pack walks with his foster mom and has a new friend, Annie, a small wire-haired terrier. Orson's foster cannot keep him long-term, and so he is once again looking for a home. Orson is between 6-7 years old and weighs in at 58 lbs. He is a medium energy dog who needs daily walks. Orson also ADORES children. He would like a family where someone is home all day. He doesn't mind other dogs but has become nervous around larger dogs who remind him of his ex-brother. He seems unconcerned with cats.
