About Yuki

Adoption Fee: $300
Border Collie mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Yuki flew in on the wings of Dean yesterday. Thank you Pilots n Paws and John Breckenridge! She was in Hesperia. Owner turn in for jumping the fence. 3 years old, Yuki had always been an inside dog, and I think she wants to know what's out there beyond walls! She's a Border Collie for Pete's sake! A bored Border Collie. She wound up in a shelter for this... Yuki was only let out of the house to go potty, and took every opportunity to escape. Very depressed at the shelter. You can see in those photos. Things are changing fast for Yuki! Yuki was in a kennel one minute, then a car, plane, van, big yard, lots of dogs AND.... she slept OUTSIDE last night. It was a beautiful night. She was nice and quiet, and very happy to see me this morning, tail waving gently. Since Yuki was a known artist in the area of escape, I was very observant of her in my yard. She immediately tried to find a breach in the recently remodeled fortress. And had a look of defeat when she couldn't scale my fence. She came back over to me by the deck and laid down with the pack. I still put her in a covered kennel run first night. The next day, we all went out on a pack walk. She walks very well on leash, but actually began to pull wanting to get at all the things there are to smell and check out on our hike. We switched from a 6 ft leash, to a 20 footer after about an hour, and I began working on her recall. She's doing really well! Tomorrow, she'll get to drag the longline, and will reassess. The goal is off leash. And eventually, with enough energy drained and an unboring life, she will stop her Houdini act. But it's a process. For now, she would be unavailable to anyone who doesn't have a no climb fence. But, she may just be the dog who goes to a home with no fences.
