About River

*Please read entire post before inquiring, and truly understand what River is seeking* Meet River. This darling petite little yellow lab is a true gem. She loves to play fetch, ride on the golf cart seat with you, dock dive, go for hikes and laze around the living room in front of the fire or the tv with you. River is a small lab, probably under 40 lbs and is around 2.5 years old. She is spayed, microchipped and utd. This girl has been with her family since she was a pup and been a wonderful member of the family, recently there have been some dynamic changes and the situation is not one that works for River and thus why she is seeking a new home. Her mom is doing this for River's sake and seeking the best possible match for her to live out the rest of her life loved and happy! River gets along well with other dogs, so play dates and doggie outings are fine but do note she plays quick and fast so her play date should enjoy the same. She can be possessive over food, treats or sometimes toys. River is not aggressive when meeting new dogs in general however in her home situation she would do best without other dogs (and absolutely no dogs smaller than her). She needs a home without cats. She is very loving with her people, she only wants to please. She can be very protective of her home and yard from people she doesn't know and would be best in a home without children. Initially when introduced to new people she can be very shy and submissive or nervous....but once she is comfortable she loves to be near you, on you, with you and is very kind. River knows commands and even some hand signals. She is very intelligent and is driven by praise. She rides well in the car and is decent on a leash. Once she is bonded with her people she can be off-leash very good and sticks close by you. Seeking a home that will have a lot of time to spend including River. One that enjoys outdoor activities would be good. She is crate trained when its needed but will only be adopted to a home that will do minimal crate time but it is her 'safe spot' and she gains comfort from her crate. She can be trusted in the house and is very mannerly and learns a doggie door to a fenced yard quickly - she loves yard time!
