About Gypsy

Weimaraner mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Gypsy was found on a welfare check after a concerned citizen alerted us to her condition. She was grossly under-nourished with two congenital deformities to her front paws. She does not require surgery on her paw as we had feared, as our veterinarian determined she has learned to balance with it and it would be detrimental to amputate. As you'll see, nothing stops Gypsy from running and playing just like any other dog! Gypsy is very sweet! She is good with cats and dogs, doing great on potty training, but she is terribly fearful of a kennel, which may stem from her past treatment. She wants to be around her people. Gypsy will do best in a quiet home with older kids (teens) who will respect her boundaries and be sympathetic to her past. She is still somewhat skittish and wary of being touched by strangers; she needs time to warm up to men. She is like a different dog when she is around other dogs - they give her confidence and she comes out of her shell! She sleeps beside her foster's bed on the floor. She likes to run and will require a fenced yard. She has learned to use a doggy door. To adopt Gypsy, apply at WAALrescue.org/adoptions
