Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are very loving, super- smart and make loyal family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent companions for all age groups as well as best friends for gentle canines. Alice is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Alice to be a 4 - 4.5 year old, 10 lb Maltese mix (based on size, body structure and personality..she's a playful and very silly/entertaining girl) mixed with the super-smart and very engaging Cairn Terrier. Alice (once comfortable in her environment) is very puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life...Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this for this dog that has so much to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous..this is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that provides understanding that blossoming takes time, socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. Alice is one of these pups that is a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend, loyal companion and the greatest lap dog ever. Alice is such a great age and size... at 4 - 4.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life with many, many healthy, active years ahead) yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind). Alice weighs 10 lbs...the perfect size to accompany her people everywhere a sweet and wonderful dog is welcome. We envision active, dog-loving retirees for our sweet lap dog. Alice would also do well with a younger family that works from home to love this wonderful dog up throughout the day. We feel that Alice is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside the home. Alice has a beautiful coat that is currently shelter sad. With a commitment to sudsy baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong supplement for coat care as well as longevity) to keep her adorable scruffy Terrier coat very healthy and matt-free. Alice won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this industrial area of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Alice's spay and microchip after her arrival on transport if our Denver vet is used. Alice is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/28/18.
