About ROGER

Adoption Fee: $225.00
Schnauzer mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

SAY HELLO TO ROGER! Roger is a 2 year old high energy Schnauzer mix boy. Weighing in at 16 pounds, Roger is a diamond in the rough. Roger was surrendered to us and was raised as an outdoor dog only who was not handled very kindly or treated as a member of the family. Since he has been with his foster, he has since learned that hands are NOT for hitting and a warm bed inside is rather nice. Roger is crate trained and has a bit of a clue about houstraining but that's about it. He will require a family that is willing to provide this very bright boy some gentle guidance until he understands where he is to go and what he is to do. He was very timid when we met him and offered to bite when his leash was pulled. We have worked with him on that and has been to a few meets where he was not the one being met and he did quite well. Roger now walks well on his leash and enjoys his rides in the car. He does not pull on his walks, but is timid when meeting strangers. He's not at all barky nor does he chew on things not meant for chewing. He does come when called and plays with his toys. Roger seems to like kids but due to his possible biting previously, we'd say a home where the children are 9 years old and over and have and understanding and respect for dogs will be considered. Though Roger gets on well with his foster mates, he would best be suited with a female dog that is similar in size, age and temperament. He still has some testosterone since his neuter and can be a little snarky with the boys. Again, he does get along with most of the dogs here however. Roger's going to need an experienced adopter that will show patient love and understanding for this wonderful boy as he has little knowledge of being a house pet and family member. Roger is a low shedding longer coated breed that will require regular brushing as well as professional grooming every 8 to 10 weeks. Roger's adoption fee is 225.00 This fee includes his Veterinarian Wellness checks while here at the rescue, his neuter, all vaccinations including rabies and bordatella, de-worming, microchip with lifetime membership and professional groom.
