OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. Hey fam, my name is Coal - doesn't it suit me? I'm a super sweet, handsome black lab'|and I'll be even more dapper once my skin fully heals. I'm a very well-mannered dog, and I can even 'sit' and 'shake' on command. I am totally potty trained, and I am perfectly content just sleeping on the floor while you're at work. I looooove getting scratc hed and rubbed by humans! You'll be able to tell I'm in pure bliss by my angelic grunting sounds I make. But once you start, you better not stop, or else I'll be pawing at you to continue my doggy massage! I think I'm probably just a human kind of dog. I love to be touching humans at all times - whether it's curled up on the couch with my head in your lap (snoring very loudly, of course) or standing between your legs and leaning on you when you're doing yard work, you can count on me being by your side at all times! I'm working on getting some strength in my legs (see my life story below for why I'm weak to begin with), so, while I love chilling with other dogs and resting my head on them, I'm not really up for intense wrestle matches quite yet. I do, however, love chasing tennis balls (but I'm not so good at dropping them out of my mouth - you threw it to me, so it's mine, right?!) I think once I'm fully healed and strong, I'll be down to play with dogs more, but right now I'm focusing on my recovery! After hearing about how great I am, you wouldn't believe what I've been through. They think I lived most of my years chained up to a fence outside - that's why a lot of my fur has rubbed off on my neck and why I have huge calluses on my elbows. Since I wasn't able to walk around or play like a normal dog when I was chained up, I couldn't build any muscle in my legs, and thus I'm pretty weak right now and walk a little wonky. To add to all of that, after I was rescued from the streets, a dog bit deep into my tarsal joint on my back leg, so now I walk with a slight limp as my leg is recovering. BUT, good news is that the vet tells me that with some time and rest (and a few pills a day), my bitten leg will completely recover, my itchy skin issues will go away, and I'll gain strength in my legs so that I can walk like a normal dog! Despite all these hardships I've been through, I'm still an extremely happy dog who loves humans and other animals. I would be a great dog for a family who wants a well-behaved, well-mannered doggo who doesn't require tons of exercise, but does requires tons of love (and obvi will offer tons of love in reciprocation). Coal is a Male Black Lab that we estimate to be born around 4/27/2011 and weighs 65 lbs. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_adoption_process.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue.
