About Mac

Adoption Fee: $40.00
Pit Bull / Boxer
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Mac! He's a 6 year old male pittbull/boxer mix. He's a very sweet boy and loves his humans, especially children. He gets along with most dogs and all cats (he's afraid of cats!). He loves to laze around, snuggle, play, and loooooves meal time! Mac has some issues with self control when he is overstimulated and is overprotective with his family, especially the kids. He is completely docile and friendly with people and animals in the house, but outside the house he sees everyone and everything as a threat to his family. Because of this, Mac has a bite history. #1. Barely a scratch. Salesperson showed up to the house unannounced when it was dark and was wearing a trench coat that was blowing in the wind. #2. Bite to the buttox. Young family member (child) came to the door, for which he was excited. Her father followed her to the house with a hood pulled up over his head. #3 & 4. Two young neighbor boys were outside playing with a ball and screaming. Mac had been playing with one of our kids and then the door opened. He saw the boys and darted after them. They ran and he chased them, biting one boy on the ribs (only scratches) and bit the other boy's buttox, causing him to bleed through his shorts. Local K9 officer investigated and evaluated Mac, and determined that he is NOT a vicious dog, but needs work and training. His current owner is unable to provide the hands on training and discipline he needs and is wary of having him around children, who can be unpredictable, in his current state. Mac would do best with someone who has lots of time to dedicate to training, discipline, and LOVE! He's a sweet, sweet boy! We don't want to see him be put down because he is NOT a vicious dog, but is easily overstimulated and overprotective. He would do best with someone who has experience with pit bull temperament and training. He loves children, but having a nice, quiet home with PREDICTABILITY would probably be best until he is trained. We are also worried for his safety due to agitated neighbors. Please consider opening your heart to this sweet, misunderstood boy!
