We adopted Desi four months ago without knowledge of her breed, but have learned she's a Rhodesian Ridgeback. This is a very active breed with a strong personality that requires experienced dog owers with a firm and patient hand. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are extremely active and athletic, and Desi has really blossomed being out in the country where she can run. As is characteristic of her breed, however, she is not immediately receptive to new people until she gets used to them. This is a problem for us as we live at a marina-lots of new people coming and going. She would make someone a great hunting, jogging, and/or watch dog. Leash trained, house trained, car trained, sits for leash and to enter and exit house. She is very smart and loving, and she's by far the most athletic dog I've ever had. We hike a lot and she's great on the trails, and comes when called. We have no papers on this dog as we got her from the pound, but she's truly a beautiful hound, with lovely shadings around muzzle and eyes. Not a barker except when on the chase. Very affectionate and playful. We'd love to find a good home for our beautiful Ridgeback girl.
