Bodhi could be that dream come true guy for active retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. We feel that Bodhi would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bodhi's family not because he doesn't enjoy young kids...he really does - but because as a smaller guy we want to make certain he's always handled gently and respectfully. Bodhi, at 8 lbs (the perfect portable size to go anywhere a great little dog is welcome) and 4 - 4.5 years old is the perfect age..old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead. Bodhi loves playing and once comfortable.. is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show. Bodhi's story is all too common - a guardian who can no longer care for a dog and hasn't made any arrangements for his care..and off the dog goes to a high-kill shelter. However, luck was with Bodhi...he was saved from the shelter due to his engaging manner and very sweet personality. Bodhi may initially be a bit uncertain or frightened from his time spent at a dismal shelter...but give him just a second (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he is happy to come closer for a welcome hug. Before you know it, Bodhi has gently jumped into your lap to give and receive love. The New Mexico rescuers recognized that Bodhi is a special dog and knew that there was a home out there that would fall in love with this wonderful guy and Bodhi would be a beloved addition to their family. As a Poodle/Bichon mix, Bodhi will have a gorgeous non-shedding coat that is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic available today, Once Bodhi is given the gift of great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is great), his coat will become the cotton-soft hair that speaks of good health. With a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition, Bodhi's coat will return to the stunning one that is natural to his breed mix. Bodhi would do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a neighborhood walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bodhi's great temperament. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Bodhi to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
