-Sweet and easy going adult female Pit Bull Terrier mix -Spayed female, brown brindle, tested free of heart worm at shelter -Been at the shelter from Mar 31, 2018 to 4-21-18 -I found a very sweet dog, on Saturday, March 31, a little past noon, at Latta Plantation Nature Preserve (6211 Sample Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078). No sooner, had I gotten out of the car with my dog, Hammond to go hiking, I heard a clicking sound coming of an animal walking towards us on asphalt, and saw this short female pit bull. She appeared to be calm, friendly, and curious about Hammond and I. I spoke to 4 people who were nearby asking them if this was their dog or if they had seen her with someone, but no one there was her owner or knew anything about her. I called her to follow Hammond and I and then gave her some water, as she appeared to be thirsty. I then took Hammond back to the car, securing him with his safety harness/tether in the rear seat and then opened the front passenger car door so that she could ride near me. She walked right up and stepped up by herself into the seat and then we rode together to Hammond's Vet. Clinic, where a microchip was found. It was recommended that I take her to the Humane Society, so I then took her to the Humane Society of Charlotte. There I was told because of legal reasons, since she had a microchip, she could not be housed there yet and that animal control would have to keep her for a period of 10 days to give the owners time to come forth/find her. I was also given the customer service number of the Smart Tag company and the volunteer recommended that I call them to find out more information. Upon calling Smart Tag, I received this information: Dog's Name: Tilt, Owner's Name: Patricia Cameron, Owner's Phone Number: 703-201-3085. I then called the number registered two times, leaving a message the second time, and I received a brief call back as if by accident because the number appeared on my screen for a split second with whoever had dialed having had immediately hung up. At this point, I called Animal Control and brought her to the facility, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control, where she was processed. At the facility, I gave them all the information I knew, including the paper that Hammond's Vet. when she kindly accessed Tilt: -both eyes: ocular discharge and crusting; -right eye: fluorescein dye: no dye retained, but vessels growing over cornea. Decreased to absent vision in right eye -broken upper canines, worn teeth -mammary left caudal chain-serohemorrhagic discharge, enlarged popliteal lymph nodes -53 Lbs *Nails were incredibly long/were trimmed there *A can of food was fed *Estimated age is around 8 years *Appears to have not had regular vet. care throughout life *Very Pleasant Temperament *Did growl at the cat in the clinic The picture included shows her with the pink collar (with a pink/white checker pattern) that she was found in.... that is all she had-No Tags- *3-31-18-She did not show any signs of agression towards myself, my dog, anyone at the vet office, any of the people (male/female adults and children) or dogs who we passed by at the Humane Society or at the animal shelter, but remained calm and friendly. *I was told that she had become available for adoption on 4-7-18 when I visited her on Sat. 4-8-18 and she appeared to be alright and due to her friendliness, I thought that she would be immediately taken in by an organization or adopted. As a safegaurd, I gave the shelter my number. *4-17-18 I got a call saying she was at risk for euthanasia because she has been up for adoption for two and a half weeks and her behavior is declining (reported as sometimes having growled at people passing by) and no rescue groups have pulled her. *4-18-18 I went the shelter and was told that an extention of 72 hours would be given. *4-21-18 I brought her home, but I cannot keep her because I cannot afford another dog. If anyone is able to foster or adopt her, I know she'd make a good friend! Feel free to contact me with any questions
